Methods and systems are provided for screening and monitoring individuals with Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, and Lewy body dementia (dementia) using the King Devic test. In this method, a visual display and a timing device are provided. One or more series of symbols arranged in the pattern are visually displayed. Instruct the person being screened to begin reading aloud the symbols placed in the pattern. A completion time for reading one series or a plurality of series of symbols arranged in the pattern is acquired using a timing device. Compare the completion time to complete reading one or more series of symbols with a reference time.
