A device for introducing an embolic coil into a catheter comprises anelongated body defining a longitudinal passage extending therethrough from afirst opening at a proximal end thereof to a second opening at a distal endthereof. The elongated body includes a mating portion for conforming to a sizeand shape of an opening in a hub of a catheter to mate therewith and anembolic coil introducer sheath including a coil receiving lumen extendingtherethrough. A distal tip of the introducer sheath is dimensioned to bereceived within a proximal end of the longitudinal passage.
