PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image display device in which a projection area and a projection center can be easily set, and to provide a projection image generation method using the same.SOLUTION: The medical image display device includes: an acquisition means to acquire three dimensional volume data of a subject a first projection image generation means to project the three dimensional volume data from a first direction to generate a first projection image an input means to input a second direction as an index when generating a second projection image to the three dimensional volume data on the first projection image a second projection image generation means to generate the second projection image on the basis of the index and a display means to display the first and second projection images.
