The present application provides a method for filtering fluid through a filter. Here, the fluid contains a target biological product (for example, a proteinaceous substance). The biological product is filtered through a filter pretreated with a surfactant. According to the present invention, the method includes the use of a suitable membrane filter pretreated with a surfactant (eg, a surfactant solution) to provide a pretreated membrane filter.
