PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain movement of a shift lever to a specific gear shift position with simple and compact configuration.SOLUTION: A restraint structure of a gear shift lever for a walking type work machine includes: a guide member 64 in which a guide groove 65 is formed for guiding a shift lever 59 to a plurality of gear shift positions corresponding to the respective gear shift positions of a transmission and a restraint plate 72 the posture of which is freely changeable between a restraint posture for restraining the shift lever 59 from moving to a reverse second speed groove R2 corresponding to high-speed reverse run, and a restraint release posture for permitting the shift lever 59 to move to the reverse second speed groove R2.
