The present invention relates to a composition comprising a botulinum toxin for use in treating a patient having hyperhydrosis, wherein the composition is administered by: a) administering a first composition containing an extracellular matrix digesting enzyme to a surface area of the patient； b) allowing sufficient time to pass for the extracellular matrix digesting enzyme to diffuse through the surface area and to a target； d) administering the composition comprising the botulinum toxin to the surface area； and e) allowing sufficient time for the botulinum toxin to diffuse through the surface area and to the target, thereby alleviating at least one symptom associated with the hyperhydrosis； wherein the surface area in step b) is selected from the group consisting of an axillary skin surface area, a palmar skin surface area and a plantar surface area.
