The present invention provides novel pharmaceutical formulations of a substituted phenylacetic acid ester compound, which is useful as a short-acting sedative hypnotic agent for anesthesia and sedation. The pharmaceutical formulations are oil-in-water emulsions suitable for administration by injection.
