The absorbent article (1) comprises, in an incomplete state, an absorbent body (10) that absorbs liquids, and an elastic pair of belt members (30) that are arranged side-by-side in the width direction, which is orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the absorbent body (10), while overlapping with the absorbent body (10). The absorbent body (10) comprises, on both sides in the width direction, leg openings (10HL), and fold lines (L10) for folding the edges of the absorbent body (10) in the width direction to the inside in the width direction. The belt members (30) are secured to a securing target portion of the folded edges. The manufacturing method for the absorbent article (1) involves: forming each of the leg openings (10HL) in each portion on both sides in the width direction of a base sheet (13sa) that is continuous in the longitudinal direction for forming the absorbent body (10)； and folding, to the inside in the width direction, the edges of the base sheet (13sa) in the width direction along the fold lines (L10).L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un article absorbant (1).
