PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire which makes it possible to surely recognize the degree of insertion depth of the guide wire when the guide wire is inserted into a target region of a lumen of a living body.
SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 is provided with an elongated wire main body 2 and forms a radiopaque part 7 having an X-ray radiopacity at a distal end part. The radiopaque part 7 has a first radiopaque region 71, a second radiopaque region 72, and a third radiopaque region 73 sequentially arranged from the distal end side in the lengthwise direction of the wire main body 2. The second radiopaque region 72 has lower radiopacity than the first radiopaque area 71 and the third radiopaque region 73. When the length of the first radiopaque region 71 is L1, the length of the second radiopaque region 72 is L2 and the length of the radiopaque region 73 is L3, a relationship L1>L2&geL3 is satisfied.
