PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter in which when a coating solution is spread on the catheter that has a guide wire port, the coating solution can be prevented from entering to the guide wire port, and a method for manufacturing a catheter.SOLUTION: A balloon catheter includes an outer shaft 15, and a balloon. A guide wire port 21 is formed at peripheral wall portion 23 that encloses an outside tube hole 15a on the way of an axial direction in the outer shaft 15. Coating regions 25 and 26 where hydrophilic coatings have been given to the outer surface respectively are installed on both sides that place the guide wire port 21 in the axial direction in the outer shaft 15.
