A wire guide (10), comprising: an elongated guide element (14) having dimensions that enable it to be inserted into a vessel of a patient’s body, defining a longitudinal axis (A) and having rear (16) and front (18) end portions, the front one the end portion (18) has a transverse dimension that is smaller than the transverse dimension of the rear end portion (16), and contains at least one protrusion (21) located on this end portion (18), the first transverse dimension of the at least one protrusion (21) greater than the corresponding ne vy transverse dimension of the front end portion (18) in contact with said at least one projection (21) .2. The guide (10) according to claim 1, in which the front end portion (18) contains at least two protrusions (21) located axially apart from each other along the front end. The guide (10) according to claim 2, in which the two protrusions (21) have transverse dimensions that are different from each other. The guide (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 3, in which the second transverse dimension of at least one protrusion (21) is substantially equal to the corresponding second transverse dimension of the front end portion (18) .5. A guide according to any one of claims 1 to 3, in which the front end portion (18) and the protrusions (21) are made of one material. The guide (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 3, in which the length of each protrusion (21) along the first transverse axis (B) is from about 0.00508 cm (0.002 inches) to about 0.0106 cm (0.004 inches). 7.
