A chopper knife assembly (74) for use by an agricultural harvester (10). The chopper knife assembly (74) includes a mounting lug (78) with fulcrums (90, 92), integral wedges (94, 96), counterwedge (80), and bladed knife components (76, 77) attached to the mounting lug (78) between the integral wedges (94, 96) and counterwedge (80). The chopper knife assembly (74) is held together by a fastener (82). The bladed knife components (76, 77) are able to pivot on the fulcrums (90, 92) of the mounting lug (78) during use, thereby forcing the bladed knife components (76, 77) onto the integral wedges (94, 96) to provide a more secure retention means.
