Disclosed is a composition comprising an initial composition of at least 22.75 percent calcium by weight extracted from calcium containing or synthetic calcium acetate containing sources (such as pearls, corals, oysters, or natural mines), wherein said initial composition is fortified with magnesium and zinc to provide a final composition of at least 4 percent by weight of calcium, at least 5 percent by weight of magnesium, at least 0.2 percent by weight of zinc, and at least 400 IU of vitamin D3, wherein the composition comprises more bioavailable calcium per unit weight than calcium carbonate； wherein the composition is for use in the alleviation or prevention of osteoporosis, for use to increase bone density, or for the facilitation of absorption of dietary calcium and magnesium.
