Compositions for preventing and treating osteoporosis are provided by compositions comprising vitamin D 3 as well as acetate salts of calcium, magnesium and zinc. The acetate salts may be extracted from natural sources such as pearls, corals and oysters, or may be formulated using synthetic materials.
