A method and apparatus are described for the control of vegetation (10) by means of a heated gas (20) that is generated in a burner (30) and which via an outflow opening (42) of an outlet channel (40) is passed to the vegetation (10) to be controlled. A fan (50) is arranged between the burner (30) and the outlet 10 channel (40) in order for the fan (50), while in operation, to suck in the heated gas (20) from the burner (30) and discharge it to the outlet channel (40) and thereby exhibiting a flame-retarding action.
