Methods of inhibiting Barrett's esophagus and/or adenocarcinoma in a subject are provided. In a particular embodiment, the method comprises administering at least one composition comprising at least one zinc compound and at least pharmaceutically acceptable carrier to the esophagus of the subject. The zinc may be a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of zinc, such as zinc gluconate. The zinc may be administered, for example, orally, topically, or by a implantable medical device. In a particular embodiment, the methods further comprise administering at least one analgesic, anesthetic, or other therapeutic agent or therapy for the treatment of Barrett's esophagus. The method may further comprise monitoring the progression of Barrett's esophagus in the subject.La présente invention concerne des procédés permettant d'inhiber l'œsophage de Barrett et/ou un adénocarcinome chez un sujet.
