The incident photons are received through one or more optical components of the point-of-care device. The method also includes detecting arrival times of incident photons using an integrated photodetector. The method of analyzing blood glucose comprises at least in part using an integrated circuit for detecting arrival times of incident photons from tissue to detect the luminance lifetime characteristics of the tissue.
