The present invention is directed to BACE inhibitor compounds, tautomers andpharmaceutically acceptable salts of the compounds which are disclosed,wherein thecompounds have the structure of Formula I,(see formula I)and the variables R1 and R2 are as defined in the specification. Correspondingpharmaceutical compositions, methods of treatment, methods of synthesis, andintermediatesare also disclosed. For example, the disclosed BACE inhibitor compounds,tautomers orpharmaceutically acceptable salts of the compounds, may be used for preparingamedicament useful for: inhibiting production of amyloid-.beta. protein in apatient in need ofinhibition thereof； inhibiting beta-site amyloid precursor protein cleavingenzyme 1 (BACE1)in a patient in need of inhibition thereof； and, treating diabetes in apatient in need oftreatment thereof, among other uses.
