The disclosed system serves for establishing an anchorage in hard tissue or hard tissue replacement material or for augmenting hard tissue in an operation site of a human or animal patient with the aid of a material having thermoplastic properties and vibration energy, of in situ liquefaction of the material having thermoplastic properties, and of displacement of the material having thermoplastic properties in a liquefied state. The system comprises a transmitting piece (1) connected or connectable to an energy source (1.1) for generating vibration energy, and a housing (2) with an opening (2.1). The transmitting piece (1) is arranged move ably within the housing (2), the opening (2.1) being adapted to the transmitting piece (1) for a distal portion of the transmitting piece (1) to be able to protrude from the opening (2.1). The system further comprises a driver being activateable for exerting a compression force (CF) on the transmitting piece (1), and a thermoplastic element (4, 6) arranged to be compressible between the transmitting piece (1) and a counter element (5, 7) by the compression force (CF).
