PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper with improved air permeability and less rigidity, while improving cushioning property for a user to have a good fit.SOLUTION: The disposable diaper 1 includes: a front surface sheet 2 a rear surface sheet 3 and a pair of fastening tapes 7 formed on both side sections 10s of the back side section B in an absorbent body 10 having an absorbent body 4 which is arranged between the sheets 2 and 3. The disposable diaper 1 includes a gather sheet 6 having a plurality of pleats 60 which extends in the width direction (X direction) between the pair of the fastening tapes 7 and between the front surface sheet 2 and the rear surface sheet 3. The gather sheet 6 includes: a piece of unwoven fabric 61 and a plurality of elastic members 62 intermittently arranged in the longitudinal direction (Y direction) on the unwoven fabric 61, and fixed in an extended state in the width direction (X direction). Each pleat 60 of the gather sheet 6 is formed by the shrinkage of each elastic member 62.
