A machine for forming an oral product can include a cutting device (140) adapted to cut through a rod of plastic material (101), a stop (150) spaced from the cutting device, the stop being adapted to be moved from a first location (156) to a second location (157), a gripping device (120, 130) adapted to hold and index a rod towards the stop, and a load cell (160) positioned to receive oral products cut from a rod by the cutting device.
