Disclosed is a method for producing an extended-release preparation composition which is characterized by comprising a spray-drying step wherein a composition containing (1) an active component, (2) a resin component and (3) a solvent is spray-dried using a spray dryer, while controlling the outlet temperature of the spray dryer. The method is also characterized in that the solvent content in the composition after the spray drying is not more than 5% by mass and the composition after the spray drying substantially contains no decomposition products of the active component.
