PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiratory system testing apparatus capable of testing the respiratory system such as the trachea, the bronchi, the lungs and the vocal cords.
SOLUTION: This respiratory system testing apparatus includes a tubular mouthpiece whose proximal end side is held by a subjects mouth, a pressure sensor which detects a pressure inside the mouthpiece and outputs it as an electric signal, a pressure varying machine which externally enhances or lowers the pressure inside the mouthpiece held by the subjects mouth, and an analyzer which analyses the electric signal output from the pressure sensor when the pressure varying machine enhances or lowers the pressure inside the mouthpiece, wherein the pressure varying machine has a movable wall which is extractably/retractably provided inside the distal end side of the mouthpiece and closes the mouthpiece, and an operation means operating to extract/retract the movable wall. The volume of a closed area in the mouthpiece closed by the movable wall is adjusted by extracting or retracting the movable wall so as to externally vary the pressure inside the mouthpiece.
