PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapler without using a complicated mechanism. A jaw assembly 30 for a surgical stapler includes a first jaw 32 with a first clamp surface, a plurality of staples 36 disposed within the first jaw, and a second clamp. Includes a second jaw 34 assembly with faces, the jaw assembly from a closed form or position where the first clamp surface is in contact with or adjacent to the second clamp surface. The second jaw is rotated so that it is moved away from the first jaw, and the second clamp surface is arranged parallel to the first clamp surface and spaced from the first clamp surface. It can be operated up to the opening form or position. It is preferable to connect the second jaw to the first jaw so that the rotating link or sliding pivot joint facilitates movement between the closed and open positions and the stapled position.
