PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having a weak side effect and having excellent glycolytic activation action and to provide a method for producing the compound.SOLUTION: A phenylpropanoid derivative is represented by formula (1). A method for producing the phenylpropanoid derivative comprises a step of adding Bacillus natto to a root of Acanthopanax senticosus Harms and a soybean powder, fermenting the resultant mixture to produce a fermentation liquid and fermenting the fermentation liquid with Monascus purpureus.EFFECT: The thus-produced phenylpropanoid derivative exhibits excellent glycolytic activation effect and is applicable for cosmetics, food preparations and pharmaceuticals.
