Disclosed is a composition consisting essentially of one bile acid or a salt thereof in an amount of at least about 0.2 percent weight/volume (w/v) (4.8 mM), a phosphotidylcholine in an amount that is less than that of the bile acid, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. Also disclosed is the use of the composition for the manufacture of a medicament for the non-surgical removal of localised fat accumulation. Examples of prefered bile acids are deoxycholic acid and chenodeoxycholic acid.
