PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing absorbent articles stably forming grooves without giving inadvertent damage or exfoliation to an absorber member by dispensing with cooling due to radiation from projections formed on the peripheral face of a pattern roll, especially projections relatively increasing the height with respect to the bases of deep recesses adjoining thereto.
SOLUTION: When the absorber member formed by having a surface sheet and an absorber is pressurized from the surface sheet side by the projections provided on the peripheral face of the pattern roll to form the recesses corresponding to the projections, this method of manufacturing the absorbent articles, each of which has the absorber member formed with the recesses, includes wholly heating the pattern roll, locally retaining the projections to a high temperature with respect to the peripheral section by a high-temperature retaining means of the pattern roll and forming the recesses.
