The press (1) has a partially- or fully-variable bale forming chamber (2) in which stem- and/or leaf-shaped harvested crop or similar pressed material is formed or pressed into bales. A feed channel (11) opens into the bale forming chamber. A feeding- and/or cutting device (15) is arranged in the feed channel and feeds harvesting- and/or pressed material. A drivable starter roller is provided in a transition area of the feed channel and the bale form chamber for starting bale shaping. The fixed starter rollers are arranged next to each other in a feed direction of the harvested crop.
