Disclosed herein is the use of clomipramine in the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting the growth or metastasis of a human breast or ovarian tumor by reducing or preventing angiogenesis in a human in need thereof. Also disclosed is the use of clomipramine in the manufacture of a medicament for treating a disease or disorder associated with angiogenesis in a human in need thereof, wherein the disease or disorder is selected from the group consisting of restenosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohns disease, diabetic retinopathy, psoriasis, endometriosis, macular degeneration, neovascular glaucoma, and adiposity.
