PURPOSE: A method and a device for performing ultrasound imaging simplify and facilitate the operation of the device by using an ultrasound probe. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasound system includes an ultrasound probe (12) and a portable host system (14). The ultrasound probe includes a transducer array (100), a first beamformer, multiple analog-to-digital converters (120), and a first digital transceiver. The transducer array obtains ultrasound data. The first beamformer partially beamforms data received from the transducer array. The analog-to-digital converters convert the partially beamformed data to digital data. The first digital transceiver transmits the partially beamformed digital data.
