PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous hollow fiber membrane and a manufacturing method of the membrane which are excellent in water permeability and preventability to micro pathogens, have not only extremely high chemical resistance capable of preventing pores from becoming coarsely larger to chemical washing or the like, but also are capable of maintaining preventability to micro pathogens stably for a long period of time.SOLUTION: There is provided a porous hollow fiber membrane made of PVDF resin. When one surface of the porous hollow fiber membrane is a surface (A) and the other surface is a surface (B), a cross section structure is a three dimensional network structure from the surface (A) to the (B), a pore size of either one of the surfaces of the porous hollow fiber membrane is 0.05 μm or less, and a ratio (H/H) between α type structure crystal (H) and &bgr; type structure crystal (H) in a crystal part of the PVDF resin is 0.5 or more.
