A dentifrice composition comprising a zinc-containing salt and a carboxypeptidase, wherein said zinc-containing salt is not bound, and where zinc is present in an amount of from 0.3 to 0.6 wt.%, And where the composition is a liquid composition containing from 50 up to 85 wt.% water. 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the carboxypeptidase is present in an amount of 0.5 wt.%. 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ratio of zinc to carboxypeptidase is about 1: 1.4. The composition of claim 3, wherein the dentifrice composition is a toothpaste. The composition of claim 3, wherein the dentifrice composition is a mouthwash. The composition of claim 3, wherein the dentifrice composition is a tooth powder. The composition according to any one of paragraphs. 1-6, where the zinc-containing salt is zinc citrate. 8. The composition according to any one of paragraphs. 1-6, where the zinc-containing salt is zinc nitrate. 9. The composition according to any one of paragraphs. 1-6, where the zinc-containing salt is zinc chloride. 10. A method for treating halitosis, comprising administering a dentifrice composition according to claim 1.11.
