PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of an absorbent which enables the stable production of an absorbent with a clear contour at a part of a stacked polymer while preventing the waste of the polymer by enabling the prevention of the stacking of the polymer on and the movement of it to parts requiring no stacking of the polymer.

SOLUTION: The method includes a process of scattering an absorbing polymer 2 on a fiber assembly 21 being transported, a process of forcing a belt 51 to run onto a polymer scattered surface of the fiber assembly 21 immediately after scattering to compress the fiber assembly 21 with the belt 51 across its thickness, a process of making the pressing surface 51a of the belt 51 almost parallel with the placed surface 57 being transported of the fiber assembly 21 to keep the fiber assembly 21 compressed between the pressing surface 51a and the placed surface 57 being transported made almost parallel with each other and a process of gradually increasing the distance between the pressing surface 51a of the belt 51 and the placed surface 57 being transported of the fiber assembly 21 to separate the belt 51 from the top of the fiber assembly 21.
