PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of producing more homogeneous differentiated cell populations from pluripotent stem cells (pSP) derived from human.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a cell population in which differentiation ability of neural progenitor cells, differentiated neurons, glial cells, and astrocytes is determined. The population is obtained by culturing a stem cell population (embryonic stem cells and the like) in a cocktail of growth conditions that initiate differentiation of pPs cells in a culture medium containing at least two ligands that bind with growth factor receptors selected from EGF, bFGF, PDGF, IGF-1, and antibodies to the receptors of these ligands, and that establish neural progenitor populations. The progenitors can be further differentiated in culture into a variety of different neural phenotypes, including dopaminergic neurons.
