Methods and apparatus for applying therapeutic energy to skin are disclosed. In particular, methods for treating skin disorders such as phototherapeutic dressings, phototherapeutic UV light applicators (sources), and the use thereof to treat psoriasis are described herein . The dressings described herein typically comprise a support body on which a medicament is formed from a semi-solid material (e.g., hydrogel) and a therapeutic agent (e.g., coal tar) . The dressing is configured to allow a significant amount of UV light within the target frequency range to pass through the medicament and dressing to the skin.
