The invention relates to a xanthine derivative defined by chemical formula I or a salt thereof, its use as a medicament, especially for use in the treatment of serotonin-related diseases or disorders, and a pharmaceutical preparation comprising the xanthine derivative. The novel xanthine compounds are capable of inhibiting tryptophan hydroxylases (TPH) involved in the biosynthesis of serotonin and are effective in influencing the serotonin level in the body.L'invention concerne un dérivé de la xanthine défini par la formule chimique I ou un sel de ce dernier, son utilisation comme médicament, en particulier pour une utilisation dans le traitement de maladies ou de troubles liés à la sérotonine, et une préparation pharmaceutique comprenant le dérivé de la xanthine. Les nouveaux composés à base de xanthine sont capables d'inhiber les tryptophane hydroxylases (TPH) impliquées dans la biosynthèse de la sérotonine et sont efficaces pour influer sur le niveau de sérotonine dans l'organisme.
