Selon l'invention, un guide visuel est orienté dans un plan de référence du dispositif numériseur. Une cupule est reliée à l'extrémité d'outillage et est adaptée à être reçue dans un acétabulum d'un patient. Une unité de capteur inertiel est reliée au corps, ladite unité de capteur inertiel présentant une orientation prédéterminée alignée avec le plan de référence.
