An absorbent article is provided which achieves both durability and pliability. This absorbent article (1) comprises a liquid absorbing absorbent body (4) which has a length direction and a width direction perpendicular to one another and is characterized in that the absorbent body (4) includes pulp fibers (7) and synthetic fibers (8) and multiple slits (6) which form less than a 45° angle with an imaginary widthwise line that bisects the absorbent body in the length direction are arranged spaced away from one another in the length direction and the width direction wherein the average length of the synthetic fibers (8) is greater than the maximum inter slit distance which in the length direction of the aforementioned slits (6) is the longest distance between said slits (6) and adjacent slits (6).
