PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus capable of tracing the same region and generating the image of the same region.SOLUTION: A transmitting/receiving part 3 acquires a plurality of volume data with different time phases when the data are acquired by scanning the heart of a subject with ultrasonic waves. An arithmetic operating part 10 finds the position of an image generating face in each time phase by tracing the position of the image generating face which cuts the volume data, acquired in a prescribed time phase, at a desired position, every time phase. An image generating part 6 generates short-axis image data representing the image generating face in each time phase acquired by the arithmetic operating part 10.
