PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing consistently high purity quantities of intermediate compounds of formula Ia, for example, the compound of formula I.SOLUTION: This application discloses a novel process to synthesize pharmaceutically active himbacine analog compounds, and furanyl-carbamic acid ester intermediates of formula I useful in the synthesis thereof.
