The present invention is related to a method of increasing the resistance of a plant to stress, preferably drought or salt stress, and/or a method of increasing the fruit yield of a plant or generating a plant displaying a higher fruit yield, comprising the step of administering to the plant or a progenitor thereof, a nucleic acid molecule comprising a promoter functional in at least one plant species and an invertase from an organism, wherein said promoter is a fruit- specific promoter and said promoter differs from the endogenous promoter which controls the expression of said invertase in the genome of said organism, and wherein the promoter and the invertase are functionally linked to allow for expression of the invertase.La présente invention porte sur un procédé daugmentation de la résistance dune plante au stress, de préférence au stress provoqué par la sécheresse ou le sel, et/ou sur un procédé daugmentation de la production de fruits dune plante ou de génération dune plante montrant une production de fruits plus élevée, lequel procédé comprend létape consistant à administrer à la plante ou à un progéniteur de celle-ci, une molécule dacide nucléique comprenant un agent promoteur fonctionnel dans au moins une espèce de plante et une invertase provenant dun organisme, ledit agent promoteur étant un agent promoteur spécifique à un fruit et ledit agent promoteur différant de lagent promoteur endogène qui contrôle lexpression de ladite invertase dans le génome dudit organisme, et lagent promoteur et linvertase étant fonctionnellement liés pour permettre lexpression de linvertase.
