PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the illumination device of an endoscope in which a phosphor is exchanged without tentatively pulling out an insertion part from the inside of the body of a subject during an endoscopic inspection to easily perform special observation by different wavelengths or the like and an optical fiber for transmitting a laser beam which is exciting light can be replaced with a new optical fiber without disassembling the endoscope even when the optical fiber is broken.
SOLUTION: Cover glass 9 is attached to an illumination window 8 in a watertight manner, and the distal end of a guide channel 10 inserted and arranged inside the insertion part 2 is arranged facing the back side of the cover glass 9. Also, an illumination unit 20 wherein the phosphor 22 which is excited by being irradiated with the laser beam to emit fluorescence is integrally attached to the tip end of the optical fiber 21 for transmitting the laser beam is provided inside the guide channel 10 so as to be freely inserted and removed from the hand side.
