The present invention relates in particular to a method for the repopulation of the commensal flora of the colon of a subject in need thereof who has been previously subjected to a Gram-negative bacteria decontamination of its colon, comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising at least one non-pathogenic, non-antibiotic-resistant E. coli strain. In a preferred embodiment, said strain is E. coli strain Nissle 1917 (DSM 6601).La présente invention concerne en particulier un procédé de repopulation de la flore commensale du côlon d'un sujet en ayant besoin qui a été auparavant soumis à une décontamination des bactéries à Gram négatif de son colon, comprenant l'administration au sujet d'une composition comprenant au moins une souche d'E. coli non pathogène, non résistante aux antibiotiques. Dans un mode de réalisation privilégié, ladite souche est la souche Nissle 1917 d'E. coli (DSM 6601).
