PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for preventing or treating arteriosclerosis with extract of a Panax ginseng C.A.SOLUTION: A composition for preventing or treating arteriosclerosis contains as an active ingredient a fruit extract extracted from dried pulp and peel removed seed from a Panax ginseng C.A. The extract of fruit of the Panax ginseng C.A. is suitable for use as an active ingredient of a composition for preventing or treating arteriosclerosis. In a health functional food for preventing or treating blood vessel inflammatory arteriosclerosis, the extract consists of a different composition and component content from a root of the Panax ginseng C.A. In a ginsenoside thereof, a ratio of PD (Protopanaxadiol) ginsenoside to PT (Protopanaxatriol) ginsenoside is 0.5 to 3.2. The PT ginsenoside is one or more of Re, Rg1, and Rg2, and the PD ginsenosides is Rb1, Rb2, Rc, and Rd.【課題】高麗人参の抽出物を用いる動脈硬化の予防又は治療用組成物の提供。【解決手段】高麗人参の種子を除去した果肉と果皮の乾燥物から抽出した実の抽出物を有効成分として含有する動脈硬化の予防又は治療用組成物であって、前記高麗人参の実の抽出物は、動脈硬化の予防又は治療用組成物の有効成分としての使用に適する。前記抽出物は高麗人参の根と異なる組成及び成分含量からなり、そのジンセノサイドは、ＰＴ（Ｐｒｏｔｏｐａｎａｘａｔｒｉｏｌ）系ジンセノサイドに対するＰＤ（Ｐｒｏｔｏｐａｎａｘａｄｉｏｌ）系ジンセノサイドの比率が０．５～３．２であり、前記ＰＴ系ジンセノサイドは、Ｒｅ、Ｒｇ１およびＲｇ２のうちの１つ又は複数であり、前記ＰＤ系ジンセノサイドは、Ｒｂ１、Ｒｂ２、ＲｃおよびＲｄである血管炎症性動脈硬化予防又は治療用健康機能食品。【選択図】図１
