The invention relates to a plants growth substrate comprising mineral fibers and a binder obtained by thermal curing of an aqueous composition comprising polyvinyl alcohol, modified starch and silane as an adhesion modifier. The proposed substrate does not release harmful substances, is environmentally friendly, nonflammable, and sufficiently water resistant and at the same time well moisture-retentive, holds its geometric shape and other consumer performance for a time period sufficient to use respective products in the plants growth process.
