Disclosed is a formulation for use in the treatment, amelioration of symptoms or both of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or a HIV infection in a subject comprising a first and a second component, wherein the first component comprises: a sterile injectable polymannan extract formulation comprising one or more aloe polysaccharides, wherein the aloe polysaccharides comprise one or more small chain, medium chain, large chain, very large chain polysaccharides, or any combinations thereof with a molecular weight ranging from 2,000,000-10,000,000 Daltons and the second component comprises an oral formulation comprising: one or more aloe anthraquinones, diacetyl anthraquinone, and combinations thereof and a freeze dried aloe powder, an aloe juice, an aloe gel or a combination wherein the powder is administered as is or after reconstitution in a liquid.
