A method for assessing the physiological state of proovigenous heminopteran insects (Hymenoptera, Parasitica) includes direct observation of insect populations which consists of selecting females, dissecting genital system thereof, staining, assessing the function of the germarium and vitellarium, calculating the number of eggs which are fully formed.
