Provided is a composition comprising scirpusin B, depicted in formula (1), characterised in that the scirpusin B is extracted from passion fruit seeds. Scirpusin B is a dimer of piceatannol. Further provided is a process for preparing the composition. In a preferred embodiment scirpusin B is obtained from passion fruit seeds by adding hydrous ethanol to the seeds and heating to reflux. Also provided is a foodstuff, beverage or cosmetic preparation comprising the composition.
