The contact sensor is arranged around the light source unit. The control unit controls the quantity of light examined in the light source unit depending on the detecting result of the contact with the skin. The control unit controls the quantity of light of the light source by at least two stages before and after detecting the contact with the skin. The control unit drives the light source unit with a first quantity of light before the contact with the skin is detected by the contact sensor.
