PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of raising crops and trees in an arid zone at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method comprises putting soil or a medium (hereinafter referred to as soil or the like) as a substitute for soil, for rooting and growing plants, and nutriment and water for making plants live for a necessary period, into a container-like product which is made of a watertight sheet, and sowing or planting followed by covering the upper surface of the soil or the like with the watertight sheet, and if necessary, connecting the sheet with the container-like product by an appropriate method so as to prevent perspiration of water from the container-like product.
